My abah
In year 1957 my abah serving in the Malayan Auxiliary Air Force in Sungei Besi. From what i read from his handwritten book the flying training was carried out at weekends and this took place at RAF Sungei Besi. On that year MAAF introduce of a more modern training aircraft, namely the de Havilland Chipmunk, which was to replace the Tiger Moths and Harvards.
The de Havilland DH.71 Tiger Moth was a British single-seat monoplane, designed to research high-speed flight and test replacement engines for the Cirrus engine, only two were built.

Unfortunately things went badly wrong. the aeroplane crashed twice. My father's ambition was to become a fighter pilot, unfortunately this was not to be. He went on to raise four children and build up a very successful technician. He is a very brave man who despite continual suffering did not let his emotions get in the way of living. He was much loved and an example to us all.
