Langkawi 2013

We were in langkawi during The Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition..The whole island was congested with sorts of people...It was not my choice of having a holiday then but this is the only time i can stay for a free accomodation ...hahaha...hubby's hotel room as he will be working during this time of period.

Our hotel located away from Pantai Cenang at the end of a long road and you will need a taxi to get to and from the main area with restaurants. Taxis are easy to get and cost a flat fee of RM10 from/to hotel to/from Pantai Cenang. Awana Porto Malai..When we arrived we have to carry our own baggage but maybe the bell boy was it bit busy so it is excusable. At the reception there were one very senior staff and another very young one. It was quite a long queue and only both of them were handling the situation...thank God i have my two beautiful children helping me with the luggages...so lucky me...hahaha

these pictures was taken from my ipod n iphone....nobody wants to carry the dslr camera during this holiday agenda...pardon me.

Our room was located on the last building (building 6) and the corridor light was off, its was pitch dark as if we were walking to an abandoned building, had to use our phone flash to see.

The room was okay, not too bad with flat screen tv, decent bed and "just okay" bathroom. The electric fan was shaking badly with annoying noise giving impression that it might fall anytime! But it was a long walk building after building to get to the room...We found a short cut by crossing the pool then straight to the last building.

Of course, anyone visiting Langkawi must must must go back with at least one of these; either the chocolates, the booze or both! It's synonymous to committing a big sin if you visit this Land of Eagle without at least packing home some chocolates for your friends or family even if you are no fan of a chocolate yourself. Chocolates (and a ton of other things like cigarettes and perfumes) are tax free, hence you can get them at much lower prices there. And with their extensive and exclusive chocolate selections, I will never grow bored of chocolate shopping in Langkawi....

Our second day was more fun as we were invited by my one and only cousin who lives n migrated to Langkawi, Nanoi...We went for the Mangrove Tour. Mangrove tour is a tour along Kilim river. On both side are mangrove trees. The boat will cruise slowly and you look and learn about mangrove ecosystem. This is fun and educational tour for everybody.

After that we waited for our boat. As we went direct we got the boat to ourselves. There was no tour guide and the boatman does not say a lot but our talking "guidebook" Nanoi was the most useful informer....hahahaha

The guy at the boat (i dont remember his name) was so courteous and very good in communication , he didn't rush the trip and made us come so close encounter with tree monkeys. We then headed through the mangroves, passing by more monkeys n serving food to those monkeys was hillarious n fun.

Next we headed to the bat cave, it cost us 1RM each to enter and we were not given any torch, then started our walk through the cave and it was a very eerie feeling, but well worth it, seeing the colony of bats on the cave roof tops and all the rock formations,. The guide made the bat cave out to be more exciting and dramatic, when really it was bats on the ceiling asleep but it was extremely smelly...

The final one is the ride up to the border of the Andaman sea.. Another breathtaking view!! most adventures moment on our boating trip as it was a rough n high tide sea current before we went back to the floating restaurant..
It's pretty worth it that langkawi was awarded as a geopark. HopEfully it is preserved for more years to come..

We managed to avoid eating at the fish farm as it is much better eating at the city because the price in the fish farm is almost doubled.
